Before Your First Session
Once you get in touch, I will offer a short call to understand what you’re looking for and whether I’m the right person to support you. We can talk about:
What has brought you to therapy
What you hope to get out of the sessions
Any questions you may have about the process
If we both feel it is a good fit, we will arrange your first appointment and I will send you the therapy agreement and key information.
Your First Therapy Session
The first session is a chance to:
Talk about what has been happening for you
Begin to explore your experiences at your own pace
Understand your goals and what you would like to focus on
Discuss how therapy might help
There is no pressure to share everything at once. We will take things gently and move at a pace that feels right for you.
How Ongoing Sessions Work
All sessions are currently held online using a secure, encrypted video platform. Each session lasts 50 minutes.
Therapy is a collaborative process. This means:
We will explore your experiences together
We will identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck
We will develop skills and strategies tailored to your needs
You are always encouraged to ask questions or guide the focus
Depending on your goals, sessions may include elements from:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
Other approaches when clinically appropriate
Between Sessions
Sometimes we may agree on small, meaningful exercises to try between sessions. These are always optional and designed to support the work we are doing together. Many people find that the biggest changes happen between sessions, not only during them.
Confidentiality
Everything you share in therapy is kept confidential. The only exceptions are situations involving serious risk, safeguarding concerns, or legal obligations. We will discuss this fully during your first session.
How Long Therapy Lasts
There is no fixed number of sessions. Some people attend for a short period to focus on a specific difficulty; others continue longer-term to work through more complex experiences.
We will review progress together and decide what feels helpful.
If You Are Unsure About Therapy
It is completely normal to feel uncertain. You are welcome to ask questions at any stage and take the process one step at a time. Therapy is most effective when you feel safe, understood, and actively involved.
Booking and Fees
Fees vary depending on the type of session.
Full details are available on the Fees page, and I will confirm everything before you book.
